Local Entrepreneurs to Speak at Student Conference
SPRINGFIELD – Two speakers have been chosen for the 5th Annual Grinspoon, Garvey & Young Entrepreneurship Conference- The Art of the Start to be held on Friday, November 6th at the MassMutual Center in Springfield from 8:15a.m. to 2 p.m. Bob Lowry, founder of the popular Bueno Y Sano will be the luncheon speaker, followed by keynote speaker Eric Sullivan, a successful entrepreneur and recent Westfield State College graduate, who will discuss his recent business startups Shred News (Online Media) and Shred Clothing (Apparel & Fashion). Just 23 years old, Eric has already launched four businesses over the past six years, one of which sold for several million dollars last year.

Organized by the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation’s Entrepreneurship Initiative, this conference is held annually to encourage young entrepreneurs to turn their dreams into businesses. Approximately 400 undergraduate and graduate students from thirteen area colleges are expected at the event, which will include breakout sessions such as: Hatch & Grow Your Business: Incubate; Start, Grow, Succeed: Grinspoon Alumni Share Their Success Stories and Seriously, It’s All Just Marketing. Another highlight of the conference will be the Entrepreneur’s Resource Showcase, featuring area businesses and organizations supporting or seeking entrepreneurial students as well as student business owners from all over the Pioneer Valley.

The exhibition fee is $175 which includes an 8’ skirted table, continental breakfast, admission to all exhibits and workshops, lunch and validated parking. Full student scholarships are provided through the generosity of our sponsors. Students from institutions participating in the HGCF Entrepreneurship Initiative must register by the 10/29 deadline.

The mission of The Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation’s Entrepreneurship Initiative is to encourage young people to innovate and to turn their innovation and creativity into businesses that will ultimately create economic opportunity and growth in the Pioneer Valley. Institutions participating in the HGCF Entrepreneurship Initiative include: American International College, Bay Path College, Elms College, Greenfield Community College, Hampshire College, Holyoke Community College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Springfield Technical Community College, UMass Isenberg School of Management and Entrepreneurship Initiative, Western New England College and Westfield State College.
